When I was 10 years old I got picked to read the Gettysburg Address at my hometown’s Bicentennial celebration. Even with my cardboard top hat you could barely see me over the podium.

I learned recently that a not insignificant number of time capsules during the 1976 Bicentennial were buried in child-sized coffins/burial vaults. Grim!

There’s a barn visible as you get on US 13 from state 1 in New Castle County, DE that has had huge, alternating Trump signs since 2024. A bicentennial flag went up this summer and wasn’t replaced with a Trump sign. I kept telling my husband it was a sign, even as I wouldn’t let myself believe.
