A National Opportunity to Shape the Future of College and Career Planning The National Parents Union (NPU) and BigFuture/College Board are seeking dedicated, passionate parents and caregivers from across the nation to serve on the inaugural Families for BigFuture Committee. This is a unique opportunity to join a national advisory body committed to ensuring the lived experiences and essential perspectives of families are centered in the college and career planning resources accessed by millions of students through the BigFuture planning program. Our mission is to empower a broadly represented, national coalition of parents and caregivers to collaboratively shape these vital resources. What We're Looking For The advisory committee will consist of members who embody our core guiding principles: Parent-Driven: Recommendations must be rooted in the lived experiences and expressed needs of parents and caregivers, with intentional prioritization of voices from marginalized and historically underserved communities. Access to Opportunity: Every student and family deserves clear, equitable access to the tools, guidance, and pathways that lead to college, career, and lifelong success Future-Oriented: The committee will look beyond immediate challenges to support the development of innovative, sustainable, and scalable solutions that prepare students for a rapidly changing world of work and learning. Actionable and Accountable: Recommendations must be practical, measurable, and tied to clear accountability mechanisms for both BigFuture/College Board and NPU. Collaborative: The committee will foster genuine partnership among parents, caregivers, NPU, and the BigFuture team, with shared ownership of outcomes. As a member, you will commit to: Attending and actively participating in all Families for BigFuture Committee meetings (virtual and in-person). Providing authentic perspectives on barriers families face in navigating college and career planning pathways. Translating lived experience into actionable product and engagement improvements for BigFuture. Members will serve a 6 month term.
