Cities with protected and separated bike lanes have 44% fewer deaths than the average city. Physical barriers separating bikes from cars significantly lower fatalities, whereas painted bike lanes and shared roadways provide no improvement in road safety.

My thought is how great is that most use these e-bikes or motorcycles vs cars, can you imagine having to find spaces for all these if they were cars?

Don't forget about banning cars and forcing people to ride bikes and trains.

perfect bike ride today. this is why cars suck and bikes rule.

It’s funny to me that bikes work but cars don’t in 4d, like cars need so much more effort to get working but bikes are just instantly transdimensional

If you think about a row of 6 parked cars or a rack of 6 parked bikes on a pavement, the amount of city space taken by all 6 bikes is probably the same as one of the cars.

Oh and rockstar boasting about “realism” lmfao as if they didn’t put literal back to the future ass flying cars, flying death missile bikes, and James Bond submarine cars in GTA Online

Most cars give you a nag light for tyre air now. All my bikes shout at ya! Turned the big lad around the other day and added a few pound. Handling was transformed. This has been a great tool over the years for bikes, cars, cycles and balls!

I love how bikes compliment the urban landscape rather than dominating it like cars.

You just imagine all the cars are bikes.

They measure the marathon by bike, and there are so many double parked cars they have to lift their bikes over them. Honestly, joke of a city sometimes. (great feature in NYT by @luisferre7.bsky.social)

saw two kids on campus crash into each other on bikes today. they were both like "you okay?", complimented each other's bikes, and rode off on their separate ways. beautiful stuff man, you don't see that kind of thing happen when cars get into accidents

"but bike party is bad because the bikes are blocking the roads" maybe you should consider the rhetorical meaning of doing this. Have you considered that cars block bikes from using the road the other all the time?

“Paris has embarked on a grand transformation, planting 155k trees, adding hundreds of kms of bike lanes, pedestrianising 300 school streets and banning cars from the banks of the Seine. Parking has been turned into green space…Fewer parents fear their child being run over when they walk to school.”
How Paris swapped cars for bikes – and transformed its streets
Under Anne Hidalgo – mayor for 12 years until last week – the French capital added bike lanes, cut traffic and reclaimed public space, but not without resistance

London is swamped with vehicles that are speed-restricted, geofenced and kill 2 pedestrians annually.
Sorry, my bad, not restricted or geofenced and kill 100. I got hire bikes and cars mixed up there. I wonder what the solutions could be.

Cars are cages.

NEW: "We need more alternatives to cars, not less. Many fears about e-scooters are precisely because they’re new — after all, we’ve had 70 years to normalize the alternative."

Read more from an opinion piece from @marksussman.bsky.social _ of @hillfamilybiking.org:
The real threat on D.C. streets isn't e-scooters — it's cars
Here are three ways to make our streets and sidewalks safer, and none of them are banning electric scooters and bikes.

Sadly, I think there are too many people who don't care about that statistic.
Bikes bad... cars good.
