Giordano has financial ties to organizations that have received AHI contracts, and he heads a federally-funded think tank, the Institute for Biodefense Research. Financial disclosures should be made with any comments from him, if any deeper ties exist.

Plague at a biodefense site, and suddenly Moscow wants to talk transparency. Funny how this government turns chatty when its own lab staff start dying, having buried Litvinenko and Skripal.

Coller argues we need a permanent federal biodefense program because "there is no market for a pathogen that does not exist yet...The government must build out the infrastructure and protocols that enable the biosecurity community to develop countermeasures..."

NIH now says biodefense is outside its mission and is routing countermeasure funds through DoD. Moving the money does not move NIAID's civilian, public-facing orientation with it which DoD might not have. That is the gap to watch. Quoted in The Scientist: www.the-scientist.com/niaid-moves-...

Stonewalling is the tell. A plague-adjacent death at a biodefense site, and Moscow suddenly goes mute? Opacity isnt a lapse there, its the whole business model.

I forgot about that. Ha ha ha (nervous)

But they couldn’t be stupid enough to fire all the people who know all the stuff about bioweapons, right??? Right???

Hundreds of CDC layoffs reversed, but biodefense preparedness staff hit
More than half of the roughly 1,300 CDC layoff notices have been rescinded, but workers at health agencies who work on biodefense and mental health still lost their jobs.

RFKJr cutting checks to a Siberian biolab is the tell. Same admin gutting US biodefense oversight while smiling at Moscow. Taxpayer dollars into the exact program we sanction. Not a bingo card, a pattern.

This issue examines unanswered questions surrounding a Russian plague lab researcher’s death, persistent gaps in U.S. biodefense preparedness, and new research challenging assumptions about H5N1’s ability to infect humans.

Clinton's entire biodefense program was inspired by *The Cobra Event* and the top of his administration spent years trying to stop a phantom problem that didn't exist (bioterrorism). These are not smart people.

Not if its enhanced with AMR genes, and genes for vaccine evasion, genes to make it more virulent, genes to adhere it to surfaces, to resist UV radiation and genes to resist chemical cleaners. You know the soviet bio weapons program turned in to the Russian #biodefense program.

NIAID Moves Away from Biodefense; Experts are Worried.
When the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) released its strategic plan for the next five years (2026–2030), researchers and health policy experts noticed that it did not include research related to pandemic preparedness, emerging infectious disease, or biodefense. This came after the then-director of NIAID, Jeffery Taubenberger, and the director of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Jayanta Bhattacharya, and John Powers, now the acting NIAID director, published a comment in Nature in January 2026 about redirecting the focus of the agency. In response to whether the NIAID will no longer fund research related to pandemic preparedness or biodefense, the press team said, “Dr. Bhattacharya has worked hard to get biodefense out of NIH’s portfolio, as it is not within NIH’s mission.” Gregg Gonsalves, an epidemiologist at Yale University and who was not involved in the plan, disagreed with this assessment. While many agencies across the federal government fund work related to biodefense—which includes pandemic preparedness and emerging infectious disease—the NIH has been the largest supporter of this work. “So, the idea that it doesn't belong in NIAID is like, tell that to the last 75 years of biomedical research and innovation in the United States,” he...

A plague that can kill you in 24 hours is rapidly spreading in #Russia right now but don't worry folks, Donald #Trump eliminated the Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense, and Elon #Musk defunded the CDC.
