At #Haikubox, we aim to make a difference, one backyard at a time.

That's why we connect each Haikubox to our larger #CommunityScience network of #bioacoustic devices & gather millions of data points.

These data show Junco & Flycatcher seasonal movements; look for the year-round Juncos.

Last week I gave a keynote at the BioDCASE workshop, an initiative focused on advancing research in computational bioacoustics. I discussed our recent work led by Rupa Kurinchi-Vendhan and Timm Haucke that looks at the impact of human verifications when labeling bioacoustic data. 👇

We have been exploring how we can optimally allocate limited (and precious) expert time given our downstream scientific goals, like species occupancy, abundance, or richness estimation.

Big thanks to @wildlifeacoustics.com for the brilliant Listening to Africa webinar🙌 Especially interesting to see how bioacoustic monitoring can be used in areas where it is difficult/unsafe for researchers to be monitoring full time. Looking forward to hearing more Africa based stories...

🐦‍⬛Dawn Chorus Quest is a cosy game for a rainy day.

🦉It's free, needs no sign-up, and was built for accessibility.

🦢Visit six locations, time travel thousands of years, and guess the songs of more than 80 birds.

🏅How many can you collect?
