Now do uterine biopsies, you ghouls.

No.

This is literally not how cancer works.
At all.

Discouraging people from getting medically indicated diagnostic biopsies is a danger to people’s lives.

Having treatment and then biopsies the very next day has meant a fair bit of inflammation and pain this week. It’s been uncomfortable and draining, but thankfully a walk at Chatsworth has given me some much-needed distraction

That stunned, numb feeling when you learn your cat's biopsies confirm the suspected lymphoma, and that it's a severe case.

Our poor sweet boy.

🌐🧪Using machine learning to improve liquid biopsies🌐🧪

Liquid biopsies are transforming cancer care, but can't yet accurately measure gene expression. Yahan Zhang is creating a machine learning tool that can predict gene expression activity from blood mRNA levels.

Tanning is back in style?

Nonononononono

(I have a very high skin cancer risk and had many, MANY biopsies in my teens and early 20s. Do not tan. Sunscreen. We like sunscreen. Hats. Long sleeves. I dress like a murder accomplice with an elaborate scheme to outthink Monsieur Poirot)

Yesterday I found out that there were no signs of cancer spread, the biopsies taken during my surgery were negative. So tonight we had dinner out for the first time since October.

No, a new study DIDN’T say seed oils are causing colorectal cancer.

The study has ZERO to do with seed oils.
Or ANY dietary components. Diet wasn’t even involved.

It was a molecular screen of tumor biopsies that looked at patterns of gene expression & metabolism.

Eevee update: They are doing infectious disease testing next, including for fungal pathogens & FIP among others & also taking biopsies/fluid samples of some areas of concern. She’ll stay another day, she is stable but still low energy/appetite. Our initial estimate was $7000, I expect it to go up.
I have a Big Ask from our community. Many of you will remember our graduates Pikachu and Eevee, who were adopted together. Eevee had dealt with some very challenging chronic diarrhea while she was a kitten, but before adoption, we figured out a food that worked for her & she was all better (thread)

A video on Facebook suggests that biopsies are unnecessary for diagnosing cancer and also spread the disease.

This is misleading. Biopsies are often an essential part of diagnosis and planning treatment. Spreading cancer cells or ‘seeding’ is a rare complication.
Yes, biopsies are necessary for diagnosing cancer – Full Fact
A misleading video downplays the importance of biopsies and claims they spread cancer.

A post shared on social media falsely claims that tumours are created by the body as a “bag” to contain toxins and that biopsies can “release those toxins”.

Incorrect claims about cancer can cause harm if people make treatment decisions based on them.
No, tumours aren’t ‘bags’ of toxins and biopsies don’t release them – Full Fact
Incorrect claims that tumours are part of the body’s healing response to cancer and that biopsies release toxins have been circulating online.

I got a clean mammogram report today! First time in many years I haven’t had to do any follow up ultrasounds, biopsies, tag placements. Yay!

We have biomarkers in #LongCovid, including results from scans and tissue biopsies, to name a few. Trials and treatments (where possible) should revolve around these findings, in addition to using symptom-based questionnaires. But many I see revolve around the questionnaires ..

Ezri is home from UPenn, they did lots of diagnostics, fluid samples, biopsies, sent everything out to labs, but are no closer to answers for why she’s sick until the advanced results come back next week. She got anti-nausea meds to encourage her to eat anything but is otherwise the same. So we wait

the last time I was in the ER a doctor sat me & sal down, said you have advanced lung cancer. we're doing biopsies Monday. it was Friday. all weekend, we were stunned I'm dying. fuck. Sal's mom, beat cancer 4 times now, she said do not believe one word until you see biopsies. guess what, bronchitis.
