Amazing to see this Great Northern Diver (Common Loon) on a small East Cork lake today - a rare inland record for Ireland. The local swans were less than impressed ... #birds #birdingUK/Ire

Spring seawatching at Splash Point, Seaford - not the most prolific this year with lots of adverse wind from the north.
One of my most anticipated parts of the birding year & great to see birds heading stoically east up channel en route to their northerly breeding grounds.

I saw my first Spotted Sandpiper on the shores of Buttermere in the Lake District 9 years ago - this one on the Ouse near Southease was rather more co-operative & the weather was better! I spent a very pleasant hour watching this smart American vagrant wader foraging in warm sunshine. #BirdingUK/IRE

Lucky to come across 2 pairs of Ring Ouzels in the north Pennine dales last month. Immediately retreated to a respectful distance & sat quietly watching m & f of both pairs collecting food, so presumably young in nearby nests.
Iconic birds.
(Heavily cropped pics from public paths).

Another varied and fruitful #vismig in the Stainburn/Haverah/Briscoe complex of visible migration spots. Finches very cyclical here- this year good, last year poor, year before good. BirdingUK/Ire. www.trektellen.nl/count/view/7...

2024 pic list ended up at 230 species, sub species and plastics, all between the Tyne and Tees, this year no boundary, just everything I see on my local travels & also holidays, will twitch lifers within a sensible distance, not a competition, just a bit of fun to keep me active😊 #birdingUK/IRE
