BUT, if you’re protecting your data properly you would have used BitLocker for disk encryption and so you need to manually decrypt the disk with a BitLocker Recovery Key, which is probably - for most companies - stored digitally on one of the servers that is currently booting over and over 🫠

y'know that thing where your computer is completely unresponsive so you force a reboot and it then demands your bitlocker key so you find it and enter it and then it does some diag thing but fails to connect to a network then shuts down and you power on again and it's normal?

bitlocker being enabled in lots of computers it doesn't need to is a pain, lots of clients lost their data because they had no idea it had bitlocker so they didn't have the key, the computers locked themselves out and there just was no way to get it back when the users had no idea what that even was
