Der älteste Präsident der Welt, Kameruns Staatschef Paul Biya, stellt sich mit 92 Jahren für eine achte Amtszeit zur Wahl. Biya ist seit 1982 Präsident des ölreichen Küstenstaats in Zentralafrika. Formell ist Kamerun eine Mehrparteiendemokratie. Opposition und Zivilgesellschaft sowie Meinungs- und Pressefreiheit sind in dem Land aber stark eingeschränkt. Biyas Aussichten auf eine erneute Wiederwahl sind daher äußerst hoch.
