The foundry layer of Blackbanner now flickers with the black-orange glow of magma. Construction of forges and smelters is moving forward, and the Council expects general metalworking operations to commence shortly, and steel arms and armor in production by the end of the season.

We fixed it! We carved out enough stairs that flooding the chamber with magma doesn't cause an appreciable FPS drop. Soon the halls of Blackbanner will ring with a cacophony of hammers against anvils.

We're getting migrants and an upgrade to our status. We're a county now. Not that the dwarves of Blackbanner necessarily recognize the validity of such distinctions, but it does mean that the starting seven are one step closer to their goal.

The council recommended the assignment of migrants without essential skills to training. The military is up to 8 dwarves now. Of course, 6 of them are untrained, unarmed, and unarmored peasants, but soon they will be legendary warriors of Blackbanner, just like Ustuth and Datan.

Blackbanner welcomes anyone who will fight to defend us.

Blackbanner is dead, at least until the general strike bug gets fixed, so rolling up a new world & posting the results in a new thread - pretty much the same params as before, just way less civs (I think I set it to 20). We'll be settling on a stream between jungle & badlands
