I love the reuse of rural British phone boxes as tiny libraries so - after my ex-publishers collapsed & I bought the warehouse stock of my backlist from them - I decided that every time I saw one, I’d top it up with a few of my books. Not sure how many books it was in total, but definitely 300-plus.

The moss-carpeted base of a tree, which has many arms, and a cute face, and makes you realise why history is full of people who went out for walks in the countryside and wrote stories about bullshit creatures and events.

Blackdown has the highest point in the South Downs National Park and far reaching views. This is a photo I took in January but, as anyone who lives in South West Surrey or West Sussex would know, it’s not this year because it’s a sunny day! The next time we may see the sun is Saturday. 🤞🏻

I wasn’t expecting a welcoming committee when I pulled over on a narrow lane, where there was a gap in the high hedges, to take a long distance view of Blackdown.

Blackdown has the highest point in Sussex and the South Downs National Park. I’ve never taken a long distance photo of it. I could see there must be a gap in the hedge because there was light across the road ahead so pulled over to take a photo. The horses all came over to the gate and immediately took my attention away from the hill. Three beautiful horses staring at me behind a metal gate with a background of the tree covered Blackdown.

I believe the hill in the distance is Leith Hill in Surrey, the highest point on the Greensand Ridge. The photo shows a bench in the foreground with a tree covering and an expansive view of the south western part of Surrey.
