Blocking discourse is so wild in any platform especially because people who hate blocks on social media tend to be people who quickly make it clear why they're likely to be blocked? Mostly by hopping into a convo and making it about how sad they are/how blockhappy folks miss out on relationships?

I haven't really changed that much from how I behaved over on the other site beyond getting even more blockhappy than I was (and I was pretty damn blockhappy over there). Snark aside: I'm happy the place is growing, the team behind it deserves that success but I ain't changing to accommodate anyone.

it's kinda amazing how little time it took for me to detox from how shitty and argumentative people were on twitter. I don't wanna go back, and I don't want it to get that bad here. it's definitely encouraged me to be more blockhappy

This place is vibe based and blockhappy. Alt text is a recognized standard that a lot of people hold and you're not gonna find success in railing against it. Don't want to do alt text, fine. I often don't myself. Block folks being assholes about it. Understand you're still limiting your audience.

Sure, but that blocklist is fairly widely used so it's just interesting it doesn't go towards that count. I'm very blockhappy and block using lists, not too concerned if some get caught in the crossfire but that's a matter of choice

I had a stalker when I joined bluesky who, despite blocking them, would link to my profile and harass anyone who they could find that was replying to me. it's why at first I was really very blockhappy, but then just blocked only the very extreme cases when it was hiding whole threads from me
