I should really measure my fiber before I spin it because this illegally full bobbin was annoying to finish and I'm going to have to switch to the jumbo bobbin to do the final ply.

Haven't hand sewn in a while so I was kinda intimidated but it's really not that hard
Now to get back to using a machine without crying from threading the bobbin

In how many other fields and practices could one say "Spun a bobbin of banana/scrambled egg colored yarn during talks" is a good thing, I wonder?

Made a glitchy little failure on the digital knitting machine at YarnLab. Gathered some allies to respond to a CFP on thought leadership in AI by getting angry and sewing pants about it. Spun a bobbin of banana/scrambled egg colored yarn during talks. Good day on campus. #DHmakes

bobbin two, this color is called inkpot I think. or inkwell. something inky
the plan is to make a stripy hat as a big swatch, and to test out color combos. I think I'll do two more colors before starting on the hat.

thank you!! i started it on friday and worked on it a couple hours a day, i'm not sure tbh but it would have been a lot faster if i had more convenient bobbin holders and if i didn't have to undo and redo a bunch of my work 3-4 times when i spotted an error 😭😭 i'd say maybe 3 days then

I'd get onto a craft forum or subreddit.
I buy good quality darning thread, for helmet making, but it's thicker than sewing cotton, and you don't get a massive amount on a bobbin.

Yes, and then bobbin (blog.tangled.org/bobbin) and we realised we can spin up 100s of bobbins for nearly free. Slap a similarly edge-friendly web client and we have incredible perf wherever the user is in the world.
In contrast: old appview which was sqlite-based, hard to shard, no API, etc.
