Today's diversion from Saga #PlaceNames and #Whisky... well it has to be #Shrooms... I think this might be Suede Bolete (Xerocomus subtomentosus AKA Boletus subtomentosus L.) Found in mixed woodland with lots of Birch. Common. #Fungi

It's been dry, but there are fungi to be found in the forest.

I was hunting Boletus edulis for a couple hours this afternoon, but every bolete I found was attacked by Hypomyces chrysospermus, so I have to post a pic of some nice Amanita muscaria muscaria instead. 🍄 #fungifriends #sopp

May be Boletus barrowsii, remember to check under cap for gills or pores. Boletes have pores, fine spungy look, peels off clean from cap. Easy tell for boletes.

today in suburban mycology
under a stand of white pine i found the prize of all boletus mushrooms, two — count em — two boletus edulis, each almost 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter with stems that were more like trunks
i left them there because the fucking squirrels had started chewing on them 😡🤬

habe erfahren, dass der schwarzhütige steinpilz,
Boletus aereus, aka bronzeröhrling in D streng geschützt ist und man dort sogar ziemlich hohe geldstrafen ausfasst, wenn man ihn mitnimmt.
wie ist denn das in Ö?

lieben dank.

I found these today. They were next to a hedge beneath a couple of oak trees. At first I thought they were fallen bracket fungi but the were firmly rooted in the ground. I wonder if they’re some kind of boletus as the one I picked had pores.

idk it's just so charming, I would also just call it a Steinpilz tbh 😭 in KCD they call them boletus edulis, I've also heard them called "bolete" by anglophones, which I think is all too scientific and boring

Es que si no son full vegan hasta una tortilla de papas es vegetariana y sencilla, unas croquetas de boletus, las bravas en cualquier sitio de tapas, unas alcachofas rehogadas... Son ganas de complicarse el no tenerlas
