Delighted to have 2 recent spider finds verified, Steatoda nobilis & Zygiella x-notata, from local park railings. They may be commonplace but I'm just getting started on spiders, so it's good to know I'm making progress & for @sewbrec.org.uk to know their book grant is paying off. ☺️ #BritishSpiders

Also from this morning's Bay circuit: 2 spiders on Gorse which I think are both Agalematea redii (my guide book says it's quite variable) (does anyone else see the face on its back? 💀), and the first crab spider I've seen this year, Misumena vatia, perched on a Dandelion. #BritishSpiders

Unbelievable luck to find a beautiful female Arctosa alpigena running towards me in the short grass just below the boulder field on Derry Cairngorm at Mar Lodge in Aberdeenshire yesterday, last UK record 2013

Hi can @britishspiders.bsky.social I’d this species for me. Very active and hard to photograph as it would not stop walking. Male? 30mm across the legs (approx), distinct pale yellow markings on the abdomen. Safely released!

Anybody know what this tiny red-legged mite is? 🕷️ Spotted on Frullania dilatata liverworts growing on tree trunks in Berkshire and Somerset by our Director, Peter Creed.

The abdominal pattern isn't clear enough from the picture for me to tell, but I'd probably plump for Steatoda grossa, but could be nobilis. If you're on twitter then the british arachnological society (@BritishSpiders) would probably be able to say either way.
