Taking a trip to see the snowdrops at Forde Abbey we came across this view of Pilsden Pen from the east.
We do not normally drive this way, preferring to go cross country via Bettiscombe(of the screaming skull). However the amount of rain masking potholes led to this route

Rural churches, beautiful to look at, but a nightmare to straighten. Not a parallel line in the whole church yard. At least none I could find, having arrived much too late to get the best of the sunset.

I've got 50km to go, I'm in Broadwindsor. It's had It's highs ups and it's downs and not just the hills, that incident by the way was down to a moment of madness on my part. Both bike and rider lived to tell the tale 😳😬🫣🤣

I didn't have any pain au chocolate but was very appreciative of the Broadwindsor community shop being open to supply lunch, coffee, apple juice, sausage roll, pecan pie and a kitkat. A warm cafe would have been nice but the craft centre in Broadwindsor doesn't open on Mondays.

I've been out for coffee & cake (big slice of gluten free pumpkin spice cake and a couple of flat whites at Redlands Yard, Broadwindsor). Going to Mum's for takeaway food later.
Just time for a sprint race in between.

I did that bit between Tunnel Road which is the A3066 and Broadwindsor. It's practically a straight line and RWGPS was going to send me that way until I diverted the route north to follow roads.
TBH, it saved nothing it was so short but cost me time in the end.

They've finally put white lines down on the road between #Broadwindsor and #Beaminster. But only on where the road has been resurfaced. It's safer now to drive at night, but stupid that sections have white lines worn away and not replaced.

Eventually I cleared the mud so the bike was rideable again and set out looking for the cafe in Broadwindsor. Only I didn't realise the craft centre was shut on Mondays, so I set out to look for the community shop instead to perchance an alfresco lunch 🚴♂️☕️🍰🤔 #cycling #bikepacking #Dorset #lunchstop
