Dug into the archives of goodport.blog for this evening’s libation: The Brownstoner. Still had nutmeg-infused bourbon but may need to refresh the decanter.

I haven't done a real takedown thread of an anti-livable streets piece in a while, but this deep dive from Brownstoner on Park Slope's 5th Ave. Open Street is worth a closer read.

That Old-Fashioned did sound good. Speaking of which, we’re having a day of rain here for the first time in months. It feels like Fall, which means we’re heading into Brownstoner Season.
Walla Walla seems like a place where time stands still.

I kept screenshots of cranks from the old hell hole who blocked me. It's dated May 2022 but more likely he blocked me in 2021 when he became a Brownstoner.

FYI, there was a plan for a protected bike lane around Plaza Street way back in 2012, but the infamous Prospect Park West bike lane lawsuit got in the way. The opponents, along with former BP Marty Markowitz, took credit for killing it.

One of the reasons I like one of my favorite books, "The Invention of Brownstone Brooklyn," so much is that it discusses how early Brooklyn brownstoner nostalgia for the 19th century city was a reaction against *both* the modernist suburbs and modernist developments in (mostly) Manhattan.

The fixin’s are gathered, the nutmeg is infusing in Maker’s Mark, and we will enjoy a Brownstoner (or two) on Thanksgiving.

The ladies at Penzey’s were all excited when I told them why I needed whole nutmeg.

Thanks!

Yes, there’s a method where you add a fat (like bacon or olive oil) to a liquor, let it steep, then run it through a filter to remove most the fat but keep the flavor. I’ve made bacon vodka this way. This particular drink sounds like a ‘Brownstoner‘, but with duck bourbon.

I wasted a LOT of time on: PlanetQuake (which I later ran!), Old Man Murray, OkCupid (which I later worked on!), a zillion different webcomics, Brownstoner, ESPN Page 2, Grantland, Deadspin, and now Defector.com ... the latter of which shows how the internet can be good again.
