I've been practicing Zen for nearly ten years, to the extent that I consider myself a Buddhist, and thus religious, but I've sat in twice as many Quaker meetings (2) as Buddhist sanghas (1)
Gonna start referring to my Zen practice as "disorganized religion"

interesting thing about this (from a 19th century French book on demonology) is that it's very evidently based either on Ganesha, and quite possibly on one of the Chinese Buddhist depictions of Ganesha as a demonic figure.

I personally like most books by Thich Nhat Hanh, who is a Thiên Buddhist (Vietnamese Zen Buddhist) and focuses on mindfulness.
