even the Nioh trilogy, which skew on the harder side, can be completed without doing buildcrafting - hell, you're actually banned from buildcrafting until the credits roll anyway.

Second, we wanted to provide buildcrafting options to generate ammo, with some tradeoffs, that we could evolve long-term with more buildcraft support options.

getting back into borderlands because i was playing cyberpunk 2077 and realized everything i liked about it (gunplay, buildcrafting, running around doing side quests) was just stuff i could get from borderlands. so i just cut out the middleman. so i've been playing borderlands 4.

I like timing based rpg mechanics but to me they organically made more sense when designed as part of a game meant to reduce mental stat-adjusting and buildcrafting burden of RPGs (paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, smrpg), instead focusing on little in-world interactions and platformery level design.

This is a game that is specifically engineered for spreadsheet sickos who want to get online and yell at each other about buildcrafting and pore through leaked item lists and add up hypothetical bonuses with a calculator. Nobody else cares!

On the whole, this article is fairly inoffensive if tautological...buildcrafting became more of a thing when buildcrafting became more of a thing, okay sure...but the conclusion it ends with doesn't really seem overly supported by any of the preceding analysis

sad about destiny even though I haven't opened it in years. I still miss that world and the gunfeel. but also feeling complicated about how all of that and the buildcrafting and the player expression has to be tied to guns
