A Burren student and classical musician has just come third in one of Ireland’s most prestigious awards for young musician. Kinvara violinist Kitty Sabry, who is a sixth-year student at Seamount College, came third at the 2026 TopSec Frank Maher Classical Music Awards. The Frank Maher is Ireland’s largest classical music competition for secondary schools and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Ballyvaughan Tidy Towns have made it four gold medals in a row with another outstanding performance from the North Clare village in this year’s Tidy Towns Competition. With 409 points Ballyvaughan ranked third overall in Clare behind Quin and Ennis, in what was a very strong showing from all the North Clare areas. There was also a strong showing from Ruan, which received 401 points as well as Ennistymon and Corofin, which both received 384 points.
