#Jacksonville #Florida boats the South's largest #busrapidtransit system (58 miles). It's impressive of a vision of rapid transit in a car-oriented landscape, but I wonder if it meant connecting to other transportation hubs to really extend the utility? I see the vision, though... #Duval

New! This chapter in 'Advances in Transport Policy and Planning' traces the evolution of #BusRapidTransit (BRT) & examines its implications for #UrbanMobility policymaking, particularly in cities in the #GlobalSouth.

Over the last 30 years, more than 190 cities have implemented #BusRapidTransit. Now, many low- & middle-income cities add urban rail. 💡 What happens to existing #BRT networks?

Wow, this is a really intriguing proposal for the #BlueHillAve corridor! Long ago the route carried trolleys and today it is the busiest bus corridor in the region. In some ways dedicated rail service would be better than #busrapidtransit while avoiding the driver backlash that proposal raises.
An ambitious proposal by two Boston city councillors to extend the Orange Line subway underground from Ruggles to Mattapan Square via Warren Street and Blue Hill Avenue was presented to MBTA chief Philip Eng today.

My prediction: Malta will abandon light rail, try #BusRapidTransit, fail at that, then start discussing a metro again.

This has been going on for at least 50 years.

Meanwhile we continue to have the most congested #traffic in Europe

Any #newyorkers have thoughts on #BusRapidTransit? New to the discussion and curious.
If New Yorkers are going to consistently choose transit over their cars, every neighborhood needs access to viable options to do that.

The best among them is Bus Rapid Transit, which can transform public mobility relatively quickly, cheaply, and broadly.
Memo to Mayor Adams: Reliable Buses Start with You - Streetsblog New York City
Congestion pricing’s success and legacy depends on improving bus service. Mayor Adams must act.
