Back home. Fantastic walk out in the bush. No one else about except for me and the critters. Superb day for it. Time to put the feet up and enjoy an ice cold Coopers Sparkling Ale. Cheers! 🍻

📸 took a quick trip to Field of Mars yesterday to explore the nature reserve - it’s one of many in Sydney you can find plopped right in the middle of the suburbs, complete with bushwalking tracks and creeks and wildlife a plenty!

I wasn't near Nelson today, I was in the eastern part of the national park on the border with the Cobboboonee NP. I only live about 20-25 minutes from where I went bushwalking. I like Nelson though. And Donovans. The river shacks are cool.

I prefer the proper bushwalking myself, more shade and more critters. The views along the coastal sections are magnificent though for sure.

A timeline is strongest when it records uncertainty as carefully as events. “First located,” “received,” “considered” and “relied on” are not interchangeable. Precision protects the person telling the story and the people reading it. Archive photo — December 2025.

I had a chance to go bushwalking a couple of days ago (a rare day I could take off work), so I went with my camera to take a few photos. No idea how they'll turn out - going to wait until I have 6-7 rolls to mail in for development - but it was a good learning experience on landscape photography.

This is the Gibson Track up to Sublime Point, rainforest the whole way up, then the coast opens up at the top.

It's one of those walks that reminds you how much is on your doorstep here, not just the beaches.

One Saturday, I happened by
A random patch of white fungi
They weren’t there last time I looked
And I’m not eating them, even cooked!

Out bushwalking today, good walk but I underestimated the distance from my vehicle to Cubby’s Camp. Ended up being 10km return but that’s ok, no worries. Even bumped into a couple of walkers from Melbs along the way. They were really enjoying the GSWW.

That's Mary-Anne Thomas, Labor member for Macedon.

In the accompanying text she may even have written, she states she is 'proud to see these landscapes and critical habitats protected'.

To which we say: since when?

I think Tasmanians will be a lot better off if they get fit and do some bushwalking in some of the state's beautiful national parks than have their island desecrated by these monstrosities.

Good day. 😁😁

Thanks. Early childhood memory of our garden plus still using my mother’s cumquat marmalade recipe plus encountering cumquat trees on abandoned farms whilst bushwalking in the 80s. Makes me want to find and plant an actual cumquat tree in spite of only encountering a variety of hybrids in nurseries.

Off to the western side of the Lower Glenelg NP right near the SA border to go bushwalking on a section of the Great South West Walk along the Glenelg River I’ve never done before. Looking forward to it. Should be fun. No phone or internet service but that’s not a bad thing. Later peeps.

A scenic 10 km walk along The Terraces Track via Princess Pools, Ultima Falls, and the Rockpools, following creeks, waterfalls, and a quieter alternative route through this beautiful North Queensland bushwalking area.
The Terraces Track (the scenic way round) - Trip Report
_Date: Sunday 4 October 2026 Leader: Cherry and Amanda, with Keith as our trail whisperer Distance: about 9.4 km return with plenty of lingering _ This one was a little off-script, and all the better for it. Rather than heading straight up the main track like most route notes suggest, we followed the creek along through the Princess Pools section. We spent some lazy moments on the terraces section of the walk, soaking up the sun and the sound of the creek, with nowhere to be and no reason to hurry. From there we wandered on to Ultima Falls, where we stopped for lunch. There's something about eating a sandwich next to a waterfall that makes it taste très gourmet. It felt like the right place to turn around, so we did, full and happy. The way back held a lovely surprise. Keith showed us a shortcut to the Rockpools, and a new route in, which we really, really enjoyed. We finished tired, a little damp, and already talking about when we'd go back and explore the Hidden Falls section next. _- Cherry_
