#BusinessSpeak
The coinages that, I think, set people's teeth on edge tend to come from (there's overlap here) self-helpery, businessspeak, and what we (or at least I) still tend to refer to as Madison Avenue, and they tend to be coined to dress up shopworn ideas for which there are already perfectly good words.
I think that people who like to use the word "creative" as a noun should do so as frequently as possible so we'll know precisely who they are and can easily avoid them.

There are people who are good at LinkedIn™️ b/c they legitimately believe that BusinessSpeak™️ concepts are mind-blowing, game-changing™️ and deep, and then there are the rest of us

The man is truly lost at sea without a self help/businessspeak aphorism

Funny how I never feel imposter syndrome in response to not understanding businessspeak.

“Do the needful” also doesn’t scan as businessspeak to me

The specific construction I’ve been finding irritating, to be clear, is “deliver on/against”

Anyway Microsoft is now calling mass layoffs a "reset" in a new and exciting form of businessspeak that will surely be picked by all other players in this dogshit industry

I didn’t realize “going forward” scanned as businessspeak. I think it was common enough in academia that I use it naturally in conversation

Code switching is fun, *especially* when you can do it into businessspeak.

I can tell you exactly what I think of you and your company - and do it with a big smile on my face and in polite company. 😘💅

Man, the “business community” really loves “solutions.” The word, I mean. Not actual solutions to anything. Just the word. Pure, grade-A businessspeak. Hollow as a log. Chef’s kiss!

Also, A.I. wrote this. Who repeats “strong and vibrant state” like that? A bot, that’s who.
INBOX: 60+ CEOs of Minnesota-based company call for "an immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions."

No mention of ICE in the letter.

Businessspeak. It's ruining everything.

Like what the fuck does this mean. What is the actual work? What is the job? Can someone translate this from businessspeak please?

a month ago i thought that all the complaints about BusinessSpeak overusing 'impacted' was overblown, but it has now spread to every sentence in the organization

I love this observation so much! You described succinctly the very discomfort I feel reading venture capitalist businessspeak. (Three, four, or five esses in "businessspeak"?!)

'Swagger' has now officially joined the roster of Poochie-type 'I'm not just the money guy, I'm down with it' businessspeak

Is it just me or is every "pro AI" article like this awash in businessspeak?

Whether it is about medicine or education or libraries, the language all sounds the same.

I'm not opposed to businessspeak in business contexts! I'm not even annoyed by, "It is what it is."

The cliches have uses! But this is far too many for someone who purports to write for a living. I assume it was also AI-generated, but that makes me wonder what they would have written before AI.

oh my fucking god. why can't all the world work on messages like this. all the necessary info and none of the weird networking/businessspeak/keyword optimization that's now essential
Sally Ride’s 1977 letter to NASA fits in a single post:

"To whom it may concern,

I am a PhD candidate in astrophysics at Stanford University, and am interested in the space shuttle program. Please send me the forms necessary to apply as a 'mission specialist' candidate.

Thank you,
Sally Ride”

And such a polite request, too!

But are you sure that’s not this week’s cryptotechno businessspeak jargon for authors?

It sounds so evil I can just imagine it.

programming is just businessspeak for spellcasting
March 29, 2025 at 8:39 PM
Dazu dezent peinliche "in eigener sache" meldung.

Businessspeak-Beschönigungs-Bla und erst im 2. Absatz erwähnen dass man Kündigungen meint?

das kannst als crypto-bude mit nft-affen bringen, auf einer Nachrichtenseite kommt das eher absurd.

Over the years, I've gotten semi-fluent at Businessspeak, and it makes me want to pull out my tongue when I hear myself say it.
January 20, 2024 at 7:54 PM
Wow really don’t get all this businessspeak #TheArchers
March 14, 2024 at 9:50 PM
I need it to create spreadsheets for me, not artwork. I like to use it check my grammar and spelling (very well supervised with a strong set of rules to start with), not create content. I’ve finally got the vapid businessspeak out of the one I use, and got it to quit using “utilize” for everything.
tech will continue to get raged against so long as it focuses on automating the pleasures of human life and not the drudgery
like half the problem i have as someone in tech is that people are writing cheques they will not be able to cash with the current architectures
