The real justification for the buttonhook interchange?

Commerce.

Not safety. Not congestion. The buttonhook is part of the Corridors of Commerce program, which is meant to “foster economic growth.”

The buttonhook design isn’t serious about reducing congestion. If it was seriously about congestion, then the design would make the stroad into a road.
