Among adults experiencing homelessness in CA, 37.9% had experienced physical (36.1%) or sexual (9.8%) violence during their homelessness episode. 1/2 perpetrated by a stranger.

Large majority of homeless people in California are not illicit drug users, study finds
Even though a majority of people on the streets do not use illegal drugs, they are both a factor leading to homelessness and an effect of it, the study found. Methamphetamine is the drug of choice.
