Good to see leadership promote road safety. However we are a lagger, not a leader, in this area.
We should start by adopting Vision Zero as a Goal, and by developing a serious road safety action plan to get us there.

The density the city wants in the neighbourhoods being targeted for intensive developement often have several residential streets at 50km/h. Slow down all residential neighbourhood speed limits to 40km/h, not selective saftey only for some.
Density=more pedestrians.
