remember remember James VI/I was an awful piece of shit whose crappy book got loads of mostly-vulnerable-older- women killed. Did I write a sketch about it? Why yes I did! www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/watch/h...

We lost that when it all went to CBeebies and CBBC, there was nothing leading CBeebies viewers to CBBC, or to anything else on the BBC. I think this is a huge part of why they've all drifted away, on top of changing viewing habits generally.

THE MR BLOBBY HAS SEEN MY MR BLOBBY ORNAMENT AND CALLED IT AWESOME. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. ONE OF MY CUSTOMERS WORKS ON A CBBC SHOW AND SHOWED IT TO HIM. MR BLOBBY IS AWARE OF MY ETSY SHOP. IS THIS HOW ROYALISTS FEEL WHEN THEY MEET THE KING?

Layfield explained to Big Issue that her audition for children’s channel CBBC involved presenting with Hacker. “Phil Fletcher, as Hacker, wants to see if you’re a person that can handle a bit of chaos. He will throw curveballs ... I think I was quite good at dealing with him trying to put me off”

To celebrate, remember that CBBC is being slowly shut down, abandoning kids to a sea of unregulated YouTube and TikTok videos.
It gives me great joy to announce that at 3.59pm today precisely, it will be the tenth anniversary of one of the finest things ever broadcast

When my boys were younger there was a bedtime story on CBeebies or possibly CBBC, with presenters and celebs reading the stories.

There’s a cbbc show about the young kids at the Spurs academy and, let me tell you, on the evidence here I think it’s fair to say that the future of Spurs is as Spursey as you’d hope it would be. Magnificent levels of ingrained Spurs-like outcomes.

Until 1 November 2016, anyway. Know Your Meme says Layfield posted this compilation in October 2017 of her most special moments with Hacker, but it only went big when Jacqui Abbott tweeted the now famous shorter, unexplained bit in April 2022

i contacted subtitling for cbbc or citv because they’d spelt “grazie” incorrectly.

You can read the Know Your Meme on it, but the short answer is that the puppeteer who controls Hacker T. Dog was always cracking the lady (Lauren Layfield) up on the broadcast. Here's the short compilation of said moments, there's an even longer 20-minute one.

The fuck is this? This is your promo for your bajillion-dollar tentpole movie? It looks like art for a CBBC show where tweens solve puzzles and do minor physical challenges for a chance to win a resin statuette and tickets to Legoland.

after CBBC/Cbeebies lunched in 2002 (Feb 6th, burned into my brain), for a quite a while we had different, but duplicated live presentation for CBBC & BBC1 in the afternoons, seemed incredibly wasteful - as did a whole channel for school age kids when they were... supposed to be at school.

Yes! It’s a bit of incidental music they used on CBBC, but I don’t know anything beyond that

This was always a flaw in the multichannel strategy. That and the target age ranges for the channels being:

0-5 - CBeebies
6-11 - CBBC
12-15 - uhhhh
16-34 - BBC Three

Used to catch these two occasionally as my nephew and mum would watch a bit of CBBC - it was great when they cracked up, which they did quite a bit.
