Very interesting info. It needs a part 2 explaining how they navigate the rules against spamming people, political carevoits notwithstanding. Why for example does filing a CCPA/CPRA data deletion request with ActBlue not work?

Then there's the privacy clause: the *LAT* is a California paper, and in California, we have the CCPA, a reasonably good privacy law. Under the CCPA, privacy waivers have to be explicit, informed and can be withdrawn at any time.
