So many posts about the miracle of the Hudson 17 years ago, yet no one questions the crash report? ‘The engines were disabled by a flock of birds.’ No way a bird has the technical ability to disable a CFM56 turbofan engine. They can’t even hold tools. Massive FAA cover up.

“And at the end of 2024, MEC, through an intermediary, ordered two used CFM56-5B engines stored in Canada from the Luxembourg-based trading company Vallair Asset Solutions for $16.9 million.”

“just two months after the engines arrived in India, MEC sold them for $23.6 million to Rossiya Airlines”

Rolls-Royce absolutely counts, more so than SNECMA who had to receive technology transfers from General Electric when collaborating with them for the CFM56 to develop the M88.

Before that it's derivatives of Atar and the TF30 (and they had to receive help from Pratt & Whitney for that)

I get tons of 737s/A320s right over me in the descent for Denver but very few small aircraft so every time I hear a non-CFM56 engine sound I'm like YOOO WHAT IS THAT WHAT ARE THEY DOING

Installing a set of CFM56-3 engine blades. Always nice putting in good parts.

On the civil side, suits fuck things up: Pratt is fucked largely because of the CFM56 on the 737. Boeing offered IAE, a Pratt partnership, a chance in the 90s, the C-Suite said no, being too cheap.

On February 22, 1987, the first Airbus A320-100, MSN 001, registered F-WWAI, completed its maiden flight from Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. Powered by CFM56-5 engines, it flew nearly 3.5 hours, becoming the first airliner with fully digital fly-by-wire controls and sidesticks. #Airways #Aviation
