If you’ve seen any early Walt Disney or Warner Bros. cartoons, you’ve heard the voice antics of Pinto Colvig. Born and raised in Southern Oregon, Colvig created the original Goofy, along with dozens of other characters including Bozo the Clown.
90 years ago, an Oregon man brought Bozo the Clown to life
Bozo the Clown is best remembered as a children’s TV personality, but he first appeared in an illustrated book and companion play-along records. The audio recordings came to life through the unique voice of Pinto Colvig of Jackson County.

Pinto Colvig was the model for that dance. He'd been a vaudevillian, the voice of Pluto and Goofy, and the original Bozo the clown.

As a lansdcape painter living in Oregon, it is my duty to someday paint a canvas of the Grand Canyon with Pinto Colvig and Goofy both leaning a little too far out over the edge.

If anyone hears this and is vibing with it, I've got a power pop album full of songs like it written but never performed. I would love to release it at some point. The album's called Total Loss and I've been toying with calling the band either Colvig or Criminal Tremor. Holler at me.

The long time voice of Goofy, Pinto Colvig, had a brief stint doing voices at Leon Schlesigner Productions from 1939 to 1943.
For one cartoon, "Conrad the Sailor", he voiced Conrad the Cat.

But 1st, a short about springs, featuring Pinto "Goofy" Colvig as Coily, a ropily-animated spring sprite.
Weird, but kinda charming in that.

Pinto Colvig did a lot of great voices over his career, but perhaps none more impactful than Coily the Spring Sprite, who taught us all the importance of springs.
