Marvell Technology Inc. has introduced the Structera X 3406 and 3506, second-generation CXL 3.2 memory expansion controllers designed to increase memory capacity, bandwidth, and utilization in AI servers and data center infrastructure. The new devices target memory-intensive workloads, including large language model (LLM) inference and deep learning recommendation models (DLRM), where memory availability can limit system performance and efficiency. The Structera X 3406 and 3506 feature six DDR4 and DDR5 memory channels, respectively, representing a 50% increase over the previous generation. Combined with PCIe 6.0 connectivity, the controllers support up to 9 TB of DDR4 memory through 18 RDIMM slots or 6 TB of DDR5 memory through 12 RDIMM slots per controller.

Marvell Technology (MRVL) unveiled its second-generation Structera X 3406 and 3506 memory expanders, designed for AI inference infrastructure.The controllers use CXL 3.2, a connection technology for sharing memory resources, and PCIe Gen 6 connectivity. Their six memory channels represent 50% more channels than the previous generation. The 3406 supports up to 9TB of DDR4 memory, while the 3506 supports up to 6TB of DDR5. Both support memory sharing across up to four hosts.Marvell expects the controllers to sample in Q1 2027. They extend the architecture of the Structera X 2404 and 2504, which are already shipping to hyperscalers.
