The coots, swans, gulls and pigeons at Bingham's Pond are all very accustomed to humans. The cygnets seemed to be expecting food.

The cygnets are properly flying now, and they've discovered the reservoir, which hugely expands their playground. In fact, two more of them have flown off in the last couple of days. Two left! #NewRiverBirds

A calm and sunny morning in Southchurch Park, with some of the trees starting to show some autumn colours ☀️ 🏝️ 🌗 🍂

I know that story is really about Hans Christian Andersen's lack of self-esteem as a lonely autistic queer, but come on, I've SEEN cygnets

They have some really good ones, too

MINDBENDING: Zedaph has announced their new brand, “Mom Licensings”! ⏯ They sell cygnets, water that tastes like 405-February-old Aphmau and, occasionally, solid metre cubes of beryllium in badly marked XXXXXXL glass jars!

The cygnets are now realising their true strength, and are flying much more. One of them was injured, hitting a cable over the railway a quarter-mile away. Railway workers called the Swan Sanctuary and after a few stitches it's going to be ok. #NewRiverBirds

Qingshan Lake Water Forest in Lin'an District, Hangzhou is a viral attraction sometimes called "Matcha Lake" for the emerald green duckweed (subfamily Lemnoideae).

These black swans (Cygnus atratus) & their cygnets are enjoying a nutritious buffet of aquatic plants.

Let's learn about duckweed.

Black Swan (Cygnus atratus). This one's not yet a year old. Part of the clutch before the current group of cygnets.

☁️🦢 It’s a cold, cloudy morning by the river Tees. Suddenly one (noisy) adult swan with 6 fully grown cygnets emerged from the low-lying mist.
🐦‍⬛🎶 Lots of birdsong today, despite the weather …

After a bit of a break, I took a trip out to ponds in Franklin yesterday. Birding is wonderful right now, lots of baby birds and nesting activities. Many human Canberrans were also out enjoying the sun and reacting with delight to having baby birds pointed out to them. #photography #AustralianBirds

The cygnets are definitely turning into swans. Not sure exactly how the out-of-focus ripples on the water in the close-ups connects with bokeh, but I think somehow they do.

A lunchtime spent paddling in a stream and then watching swans (+ 2 teenage cygnets) is a good lunchtime.

I hadn’t seen the swans for four weeks. Today, their five grey cygnets were nearly as large as their parents. One adult held its head high; some groomed, others rested in the sun. I wondered what the river provides that helps them thrive.
