I was in charge of fundraising for a city council campaign in KC during the last election in 2023. Seeing that @katmabu.bsky.social raised over $8k in a two hour stream as an alternative to “call time” is a type of jealousy I can’t even explain. Very cool

(also today during calltime I was joking with my fundraiser that we should pull a Mike Lindell and buy a million copies for “campaign purposes,” and then the topic went to other candidates’ public expenditures that are, questionable, shall we say, and we both agreed those kind of people suck)

The really fun one for me, as someone running for public office, is that after entering about seven new contacts into my iphone during calltime, the OS starts chugging worse than trying to play Tribes 2 on dialup.
Also, my windows laptop likes to randomly lockup for no reason these days.

I think it’s important to recognize the caveat that a part of why this is so successful is because I have an existing large platform.
BUT we’re proving that there *are* alternatives to calltime and trying to make methods like this more accessible to others who might run for office too.

Depends, is my candidate's primary challenger there? If so, their presence is cause for my candidate to take infinite offense to their honor and reason to blow off the event in favor of yet another round of calltime, or maybe postcard writing. I'm sure that as a result it can only good happen.
