People in CancerLand also are reporting that ongoing scheduled cancer trial treatments at NCI suddenly have been canceled, leaving desperately ill people with no alternatives. People will die from this, and years of human trial data will be ruined from this.
Heard from inside the National Cancer Institute, part of NIH — travel through April is canceled. Purchasing with government card is frozen. All public comms are off limits. Can’t even submit abstracts to future meetings. Can’t submit *manuscripts* for publication. All hiring activity frozen. Fuck.

Everything they cut out of me was cancerous. So its metastasised to my skin now. I'm not turbo-fucked, but I might be "ITBs and an aggressive remap" fucked 😬 I'm nationally famous in cancerland now too - never mind an MDT, my case has been discussed at a national meeting of specialists 😎

As more of us get cancer “young,” we are living through this cancer purgatory. We’re better but not better. We’re alive but familiar with the sword of Damocles. We have seen into cancerland but have to go on living as if we don’t know what’s on the other side.

I filled out the paperwork needed to get a second opinion with a new oncologist.
Mentally, I pretend I don’t have cancer to survive cancer. Having to dip back into cancerland intermittently is a bummer.
I see the new oncologist tomorrow at 2:00. I am both scared & sort of numb. Yay Cymbalta!

I don’t qualify b/c medical reasons (I probably would have if this had happened 11 yrs ago when I first developed cancer).
Nonetheless, I’m thrilled for these residents of Cancerland. A rising tide lifts all boats. Every good new development is good news for all of us

A2: I think the barriers faced in addressing misinformation in cancerland is it’s sooo vast and sometimes extreme. Like…cutting all sugar, only eat raw vegetables, etc. Modification is key. #AYACSM

Tomorrow will mark 10 years since my initial bone cancer diagnosis. It's not a cancer-free 10 yrs (2 lung recurrences). I was sure I'd be dead by now. I've lost so many friends made in cancerland. No wisdom to offer, just marking it. And beyond lucky to get to watch my kids grow.
