Wondering why we spend our days "off" volunteering to scrape and collect algae on the bottom of the sea?

Here's one reason why.

Removing fouling macroalgae exposes crustose coralline algae (the purple), which attracts baby corals for settlement.

On our way out to the reef for coral restoration volunteering, this parrotfish tagged along.

That face!!

Parrotfish perpetually look happy, and the way this one looks perfectly represents my inner smile when I do work on the reef.
