WE HAVE IDENTIFIED CAUSALITY wait what?

you got your causality backwards there
November 3, 2026 at 10:33 PM
sometimes you just need a reminder that causality is not irrevocably broken

I see you fixed the causality issues :)

I think you should care about p values and causality for related reasons, but mainly because statistically insignificant findings are small or zero and that’s important context

Angie Nixon really another causality of the Dem establishment dragging their feet to support progressive candidates

Oh yeah. The causality weirdness of our real life ruined their chance.
November 4, 2026 at 5:09 AM
yeah this happened to me too

Snatching defeat from the jaws of causality.
This didn't happen. The entire infrastructure of the Democratic Party basically unpersoned Stevens in about the space of 2 hours. Nobody has stopped backing Peltola. You're yelling at the voices in your head.
In short: Corporate Media & Establishment Democrats turning against Democratic senate candidates in Alaska & Michigan in last few days is great news for them. This proves to the rest of US that their success is a victory for The People over the corrupt Elite undermining our freedom & opportunity.

omg YES this - thank you for saying. I keep coming back to this feeling that finally some things make *sense*. Like we’d been living in a world where causality had broken down, and last night it turned back on.

i don't think you can reason causality from this. voters are bad at explaining their decision making process, which is also why they are bad at answering hypotheticals.
This helps explain my point about this election not being just about gas prices.

Voters who saw the economy as the main issue split fairly evenly. Those who put democracy first overwhelmingly voted Democrat.

There is always a scramble to explain an election or other significant event immediately, long before there's sufficient evidence or time for thought to reliably assign causality.

Wow this is my most like post!

If anyone is interested in learning more about my work feel free to visit my startups website (get-causality.com). I’ve been building a website and survey platform to scale causal mapping to understand how people see cause and effect relationships.
Get Causality: understand how stakeholders think at scale
Surveys capture what people think. Get Causality records what people believe causes what, across many respondents. Closed beta.

I can’t even be entirely certain the causality goes in the direction one might assume!

I wonder if the causality is reversed here - were datacenter projects more likely to be sited in communities that had less political clout in the state, and were thus more likely to swing away from the GOP?

It will be Hipkins' fault. Direct causality. He's a Bill English albatross.

It doesn't correlate especially well to falling rates of violence either.

Its... this graph is the final boss of causality is not correlation.

but also just being treated that way constantly has a way of eroding someone's sense of not just morality but causality
November 5, 2026 at 4:52 PM
That's not what I said. I said I don't see a relationship between caring about causality and why we should care about the p-value of DSA membership and overperformance which is a different claim.

a rhetorical tendency [causality]

Everyone who crawls into the time travel hole gets stuck in an unending causality loop of misery. That wouldn’t happen to me though

Third different physio seen about my hip.

Third different diagnosis, as they work through possibilities.

Third different set of exercises, & both the previous two led to some improvement.

Third time's always the answer in stories, so I'm relying on narrative causality to sort shit out this time.
