Q2: DC charges are still a big barrier, and while ONgov and CDNgov has offered some relief it's not permanent. What will candidates do?

Guthrie also says the three year sunset clause lights the fire, and then the ONgov and CDNgov will figure out what to do next. There's 100k jobs in the home building sector under threat b/c nothing is moving right now. This will help.

Guthrie says that there are a lot of municipalities jumping on this opportunity, and because of the timelines from CDNgov and ONgov, we had to have this summer meeting.

White asks where this mandate usually falls. Artuso says its ONgov and CDNgov, the Van was significantly funded by the CDNgov the last several months through a one-time allocation, and while they submitted a new application but it was rejected. There was 3-year grant from feds & 1 year of County b4.

Schreiner says if there was a community fund, cities could bring down DCs and would only like to see DC savings on in-fill, and not funding increased sprawl. He hopes that the CDNgov funding on housing will be matched by ONgov.

We also need coop, non-profit and supportive housing, Schreiner notes. He says that CDNgov is getting back into the game, but when he raises this at Queen's Park the premier calls him a "socialist". Doesn't want to discount renting b/c we need affordable rent too.

Okay, last, last question from a woman who says she's Palestinian and notes that she can't be blamed for feeling like the CDNgov has blood on their hands for voting down 233. O'Rourke says she hears that, but that doesn't not make it bad bill, and hopes something more focused might come out.

There will also be a one-time payment in the spring for the GST to cover the cost of inflation, and there will be an increase in GST reimbursement too. CDNgov is also looking to expand greenhouses, increase supply chain, and invest in Competition Bureau.

For all workers, there's massive investment in supporting the trades, the world needs a lot of welders, for example. The CDNgov is also accelerating foreign credential recognition. Young people are also being supported with work integrated learning + increased funding for Can. Summer Jobs.

Workers will be affected by tariffs, they're justified and illegal O'Rourke notes. The Supreme Court of the US have thrown out Trump's tariffs, but the effects are still being felt. The CDNgov is focused on getting a good deal and supporting workers, she says.
March 18, 2026 at 10:57 PM
The focus tonight is on trade and economy. O'Rourke notes that presently 90% of Canada's trade is tariff free thanks to the CUSMA, but that will soon be under review. In the meantime, the CDNgov is focused on interprovincial trade.

Yup ... #CPC gotta find a leader that can operate at Mark Carney's level ... and sooner is better than later.

#Poilievre is way out of his depth.

Pierre Poilievre was uncharacteristically silent for two days after Mark Carney's big speech in Davos. When he finally opened his mouth, he confirmed just how far out of his political and intellectual depth he is right now. #cdnpoli

Pierre Poilievre just can't meet the moment
After two days of uncharacteristic silence, the Conservative leader finally found his voice. What he had to say was the same thing he's been saying for years.

I guess he only wants autocratic despots and subservient minions (not unlike the U.S. Cabinet he assembled) ...

the times they are a-changin' ...
