Hurrah, an extra hour of Talarico fundraising texts

Resharing this great piece of reporting, which reveals that three-quarters of the money raised this way goes toward funding more fundraising. newrepublic.com/article/2163...
How the Consulting Class Is Eating the Democratic Party
Fundraising costs gobble up most of the funds raised. Billions are spent on TV ads that have virtually no impact. Candidates may win or lose—but the consulting class always wins.

Even sinema managed to not endorse across the aisle — iirc — while in office and fundraising for the party!
Michigan dodged a Sinema.

Now do folks understand why I include EVERY GOP-held Senate seat on my fundraising page???
New Democratic poll of #LASen finds Tuesday's race tied at 47 apiece between Democrat Jamie Davis and Republican Julia Letlow.

The pollster, Lincoln Park Strategies, tells us that the sample size was 602 likely voters. Client was the Louisiana Democratic Party.

I honestly think this will help El-Sayed. He's number two in fundraising today, and Michiganders can rest easy knowing they chose the right candidate in the primaries.

Wow these Talarico fundraising texts are getting awful weird.

100%. They are truly decimating their fundraising. I have completely stopped donating because of all the text spam.

Fred DeLorey on Liberals out fundraising Conservatives: "Stephen Harper never lost a quarter. Andrew Scheer never lost a quarter. Erin O'Toole, who was eventually forced out by caucus, never lost a quarter of fundraising."

I think also fundraising dinners and cocktail parties in this case.

fundraising emails disguised as Halloween messages make me want to rotate my head all the way around and hiss
October 31, 2026 at 10:05 PM
please remember this is also a consequence of citizens united

when we allow corporations and billionaires to give unlimited sums to dark money PACs, campaigning has to be 75% fundraising to even compete on the same playing field
With all my heart I hope Talarico wins, but this kind of thing has to stop; it is one of the reasons so many Democratic voters hate the Democratic party. And it's not a Talarico problem; it's a Democratic consultant-class problem.

This kind of political fundraising should absolutely be illegal:

Candidates who take the fundraising emails they bought and sign them up for their substack: stop.

I think about this a lot, especially because I work in a space where:

1. altruistic fundraising is common
2. nonprofit fundraising can *also* be used for marketing “reach” & “conversion rate” of the organizer to sponsors
3. mutual aid is visible
4. I hear a lot privately about financial support
Also, when going after celebs for "not doing enough" I think about George Michael, the extent of whose anonymous giving, both general and for individuals, was not known until after his passing. He wanted to be helpful; he didn't need to be seen helping.

After George Michael's Death, Stories Emerge Of His Quiet Generosity
The British pop icon made large donations to a variety of charities — and worked hard to keep the gifts from garnering publicity. Fans on Twitter have shared stories of individual acts of charity.
