My guess is between 1900 and 1920 or so. His collar looks like the celluloid ones that men wore at that time. Detachable collars were popular because it cut down on laundering of shirts. Celluloid collars were cheaper than the starched linen collars, and didn't need to be washed, starched or ironed.
