A small multi-tiered waterfall found whilst exploring some temperate rainforest fragments on the west coast of Scotland in late May. The persistent rain made for perfect conditions.

The colours, shapes and shade are dramatic and artistic. Never mind full of wildlife.

The wonderful purple tones of young Birch (Fedwen) giving a flush of colour to the otherwise dormant winter tones of the sessile Oak (Derwen). A wonderful area around the Dwyryd, on the flanks of #Eryri and its #celticrainforest habitats (Coedwigoedd Glaw Celtaidd Cymru).

The Beauty of Rewilding: Ireland’s Atlantic Rainforest
This is an interesting documentary about my home country of Ireland. A bit of background information - almost all of Ireland's natural forests were cut down by the British. About 12% of the island of Ireland is currently forested, it was only 1% in the early 1900s. However, true native woodland only comprises 2%, and most of this is managed.

You know you’re in #CelticRainforest when a tiny patch of trunk is home to seven different amazing lichens: red shingle, lungwort, floury dog, mealy-rimmed shingle, knobbly felt, frilly-fruited jelly and a shield lichen. Inchree Falls, Onich #FridayLichen @Love_plants
