Present me is thanking past me for chucking some seedlings into the garden around the winter solstice. Scarlet runner beans, flat leaf parsley, celtuce, rainbow chard 🌈 and broccoli leaf (rapini). No scurvy in this household 🤗

i got a ton of celtuce today & chinese celery which is much leafier than regular celery. i had so many greens so i made kimchi w them and pickled the stems along w the celtuce. chinese celery is intensely aromatic & a little bitter... hoping the kimchi-ing will mellow it out

making a batch of 糟卤 with just vegetarian things (celtuce, tofu skin,

Second: Celtuce. We just call it The Vegetable. You ignore the leaves (in stores it’s mostly kept on to show how fresh it is); the stem is the star. Peel it, slice it, and use it in stir fries for a mild fresh taste that’s slightly sweet. Also makes amazing pickles

They had nice celtuce at H Mart so I’m making pork with garlic sauce! No wood ears so I’m using regular mushrooms. Also making a little carrot salad to go with

Congee, pickled celtuce, preserved orange peel and Chinese newspaper. Welcome comforts for a relative who has appreciated wonderful hospital care, but spent the last 3 days complaining about 'white person food' 🤣. I think we underestimate the value of culturally-congruent nutrition.

Got this nice celtuce from H mart
so I’m making pork with garlic sauce! Well, sort of. It’s supposed to have wood ears but I don’t have any so I’m using regular mushrooms.
