Present me is thanking past me for chucking some seedlings into the garden around the winter solstice. Scarlet runner beans, flat leaf parsley, celtuce, rainbow chard 🌈 and broccoli leaf (rapini). No scurvy in this household 🤗

You can eat the stems. The bitterness goes away when they get cooked. It's basically celtuce.

We went to the Cully farmers market and I tried celtuce for the first time and my opinion is that for the trouble of peeling the rind to avoid the bitter sap I'll just eat broccoli stems

i got a ton of celtuce today & chinese celery which is much leafier than regular celery. i had so many greens so i made kimchi w them and pickled the stems along w the celtuce. chinese celery is intensely aromatic & a little bitter... hoping the kimchi-ing will mellow it out

Making elaborate meals to fill a void in one's soul.

Anyway I cooked the mushrooms in a koji butter and now other foods no longer matter.

Egg got a weird treatment with dill, white vinegar, and scallions in the liquid, but I'm pretty happy with the results.

Celtuce is soft inside & reminds me of a mild & tender celery. I used a standard peeler to remove the tough outer skin & a julienne peeler to shred it. The dressing was a little scallion & cider vinegar. 2/2 thewoksoflife.com/celtuce-sala...

I made another two course meal today, this time a salad & a main. This is the salad. It dressed celtuce, an Asian vegetable. I’ve seen it at local Chinese markets & wondered what it was. Browsing Woks of Life, I saw what it was & a salad recipe. Recipe below 1/2 🍽️🍜 #foodsky #cooking

I stumbled across a good video primer on fermented tofu (Sam Low) and, armed with knowledge, gave chasiu chicken a try.

Very tasty will make again. Enjoyed by 0/2 children but you can't win 'em all.
