When we think about an industrial company needing 200C or so and wanting to electrify, reduced FF exposure is a benefit, but is there a way in which electricity cost can be largely locked in? For example, if that company could step into parts of solar and wind CfDs then one could model …

Understanding Forex Trading Regulations and Risks for Australian Investors
Forex trading in Australia is legal and regulated, but it remains one of the most misunderstood aspects of personal finance. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding how the forex market operates before engaging in trading. Currencies trade in pairs, such as AUD/USD, with exchange rates influenced by factors like interest rate decisions from the Reserve Bank of Australia. Most retail traders use Contracts for Difference (CFDs) rather than physical currency exchange, allowing them to open and close positions rapidly based on price movements. A critical aspect highlighted is leverage, which allows traders to control larger positions with smaller capital but significantly amplifies both potential gains and losses. The article stresses that understanding leverage is more important than selecting specific currency pairs. It also advises checking ASIC's public register to confirm a broker's license, as ASIC-regulated brokers must hold client funds separately and meet capital requirements. Key considerations when choosing a broker include fixed vs. variable spreads, risk management tools like guaranteed stop-loss orders, minimum deposit requirements, and the availability of demo accounts for practice. The article clarifies that forex trading differs from currency exchange for travel, as it involves speculative trading with the risk of loss, unlike one-time travel currency conversions. It also notes that while ASIC-regulated brokers typically offer negative balance protection, traders must still be aware of the risks involved. The Reserve Bank of Australia's cash rate decisions and statements are recommended as a free, reliable starting point for learning about forex, rather than paid trading courses. The article concludes by emphasizing that accessibility through regulated brokers does not equate to low risk, and traders should prioritize understanding leverage, verifying broker regulation, and using demo accounts before committing real funds.

It might be an odd time to argue for more debt, but it is economically more than viable to capitalise GBE and install BESS near substations and transformers to maximise the value of existing and new RE CfDs. That will also reduce the total system cost.

Because CFDs themselves are actually pretty easy to explain:

- You don't own the underlying asset.
- You speculate on its price movement.
- 📈 Long when expecting higher prices.
- 📉 Short when expecting lower prices.

The difficult part is managing the risk around that trade.

But here's where broker choice starts becoming important.

CFDs involve things like:

• Margin
• Leverage
• Spreads
• Execution
• Overnight financing

So the platform sitting between you and the market actually matters.

Think gold is going up?

You can go long.

Think it's going down?

You can go short.

That's one of the biggest attractions of CFDs: you're not limited to bullish markets.

If you're getting into CFD trading, choosing the market and choosing where you're actually going to trade it, are equally important.

Here's a quick explanations on what CFDs are and what I look for in a broker 👇🧵

September 25, 2026 at 3:27 PM
September 25, 2026 at 3:14 PM
siga engañandose, hoy no por hoy no se instalaría solar si hubiesemos dado CFDs a la solar (carisima) de 2010
September 25, 2026 at 3:11 PM
