In case anyone wants to see the eventual big singles match between Riki Choshu and Animal Hamaguchi that was one of the bigger programs of 1990 NJPW, I was able to post it unlisted. It's a nice little bloody 9 minutes.

While not entirely inaccurate (There were discontent Samurai), the Meiji oligarchy that pushed for modernization of Japan WERE Samurai elites, mostly from the Satsuma and Choshu domains.

The 10/19/88 Inoki vs Choshu is bloody and iconic but no one talks about it. Even before the blood, this sums up Inoki and Choshu as well as almost anything I can imagine. Choshu keeps riling Inoki so Inoki loses it and starts to expose the ringposts and Choshu follows suit. More to come.
