My seawing OC: CHAROPHYTA

“Tell me, Scaur, how do you see me? I'm dead.."

A seawing who was disfigured during an earthquake. She lost the ability to fly long hours and to breathe underwater.
Charophyta suffers from wild paranoia.

🧬 RESEARCH 🧬

Heterogeneity of ethylene receptor paralog interactions extends the ethylene response range, furthering knowledge of the emergent function of genetically redundant paralogs with low degrees of functional redundancy in fitness- Zhao et al.

…depends on the group. Some have merging cells (conjugating), some bud off daughter cells (clonal), some have egg and sperm (Charophyta, stoneworts), most don’t. They are all cool and amazing. Some are microscopic, and kelp can be giant. Some algae groups are as unrelated as a monkey and a palm.

🌱🌾🌍🌺🍄🌳🌲🌿🍃🖌🐡 What are the living relatives of the typical green plants? The Charophyta are multicellular, green, photosynthetic algae. Live in calcium-rich freshwater and are covered with calcium carbonate. Long, thin, stems with whorls of branches. #BUC2026

This article showed that acid growth is originated in Charophyta and functionally evolved in land plants.

And perhaps think of us people with dyslexia. Chlorophyta and Charophyta are the two major groups of green algae. Yup.

Just finished reading:
🔗 Charophyta - Wikipedia — https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charophyta
Windows open: 37 • Tabs open: 3,121
I keep a huge backlog of tabs because ‘I’ll read it later’ is how my brain saves ideas. Lately I’m practicing: open → read → close. It’s weirdly satisfying.
