This is great news. The biggest advance with the disease in 40 years.
New cervical cancer treatment regime ‘cuts risk of dying from disease by 40%’

Fuck.
$67k. Chemoradiation is expensive. This is 1 bill.
If you're able, (and *please* only if you are), every contribution helps. If not liking and sharing this post as far and wide as possible increases the chances of it reaching someone who can spare a bit.

Here we go. Day 1 of chemoradiation for cancer of the date. Scared and relieved at the same time.

When my great-aunt was undergoing chemoradiation in 2012, we wore surgical masks to visit or help with errands. We also avoided high-transmission locations for ~a week before visiting.

Last week, at the Long Covid clinic, my unmasked infectious disease dr didn’t even cover his mouth when he sneezed
One of the most irksome part of Vinay Prasad's anti-mask activism, including mocking individuals choosing to wear masks, is that he's an oncologist by training.

It was standard before Covid for some patients oncologists treated to need to wear masks.

I'm wearing an N95 mask right now to protect my health when I'm in public because chemoradiation shot my immune system to pieces.
So does FELON Trump's order include people like me?
Does it include those with asthma during wildfire season?
And what about Trump's mask-wearing ICE Nazis?

Adding PD-1 blockade to neoadjuvant chemoradiation significantly boosts the pathological complete response rate in locally advanced rectal cancer patients.

by Yang Y, Pang K (...) Zhang Z et 20 al. in Nat Med #MedSky

Neoadjuvant chemoradiation with or without PD-1 blockade in locally advanced rectal cancer: a randomized phase 2 trial - Nature Medicine
In a multicenter, open-label, randomized phase 2 trial, neoadjuvant chemoradiation with PD-1 blockade elicited a pathological complete response rate superior to that with neoadjuvant chemoradiation alone in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer.

Throat/Tonsil cancer here too. 2 surgeries. The tumor came back, inoperable. I'm 3 weeks out of chemoradiation treatments. I had an infusion of fluids this morning.

IF chemoradiation is part of your treatment plan, see if you can get a port. It's awesome.

One thing at a time & all the best to you.

I 'm not shocked that I'm stressed.
I've fought cancer for 17 months. I'm recovering from 2 months of chemoradiation. I'm moving. Friends keep getting laid off.
Politics.
The past week I've had regular nightmares and burst into tears at the drop of a hat.
It's a new stress level.

The consultant gyne oncologist in charge of my chemoradiation therapy last year categorically told me not to travel to the US for any reason. An eminent professor of decades standing, apparently he tells all women this and has for a while.

Did y’all know chemoradiation was a real thing ?

I didn’t, I really hope when they remove my entire reproductive system there’s zero cancer cells left because holy shit I do not want it.

To be clear I will have it if I need it, but I really hope it’s all removable with just surgery.
