CISA should probably be directly as part of Commerce, given the civilian and infrastructure focus.

Not opposed to having CISA as an independent agency, or put it under DoD

Honestly our government is so far behind everything tech-wise we could stand up a new Department of Information Technology and move some stuff there 🤪

CISA is newer, so where does that go? NSA? Independent agency like ANSSI or BSI?

Cait Conley - who was the election security lead at CISA under the Biden administration - will be heading back to Washington after defeating Republican Mike Lawler for the NY-17 congressional seat. Lawler said he called Conley to concede.

Trump's AI task force promises to protect America from new security threats and design early warning-protocols for incidents. But it seems to be ignoring the agency with the most expertise on those issues.

One of the CISA director’s direct reports should be a CNSS member but that needs to happen regardless of where CISA is.

Rebuilding CISA and securing AI will top Democrats' cybersecurity agenda after they take control of Congress.

That agenda will also likely include local cyber grants, DOGE investigations, and regulatory harmonization.

Dissolve current iteration of DHS and restructure/rebuild.

Properly fund science

Rebuild FBI, IC, State Department, NSC, CISA, all manner of alphabet soup

(Geez, there’s so much…)

Disband DHS.
Abolish ICE and CBP.
Return USCIS and completely rebuilt, mundane immigration and customs enforcement back to DOJ.
Send TSA to DOT.
Send CISA to DOC.
Send FEMA to DOI.
Send USSS to DOJ.
Send USCG to DOD.

DHS is a failed experiment.
It’s time for ICE to take the masks off, turn the body cameras on, and start answering to the American people who pay for their bloated budget.

Honestly, there's a lot of stuff that CISA was doing that NIST kind of also does (e.g., public security guidance/best practices). That's why Commerce makes the most sense, too.

Per @ddimolfetta.bsky.social, Walkinshaw also says CISA is stonewalling his request for a workforce analysis.

"Right now CISA should be coming to Congress and begging and pleading and demanding for funds to accomplish a critical, growing mission, and they aren't doing that."
