The Calder Valley 110s played such a big part of my childhood, and were very much my introduction to rail travel! Loved these units, proper little power houses with their Rolls Royce engines.

I think this would have been around 1984, and a chance trip around Neville Hill. A BRCW Class 110, Calder Valley car stands in the middle road of the Back Fitting Shop. If you’ve worked on diesel depot, this is one of those images you can almost smell!
