#ClimateTwitter
Agreed, and especially true within #climatetwitter, which gives a distorted perception because of the proportion of time people spend thinking about it. Most people, including young, well-informed people, still prefer not to think about it.

Direct discussion of everything would be a fantastic #climatetwitter Christmas present at the end of 2020. Like this thread:

4 - You may see elsewhere on #climatetwitter continuous confusion about this point.

The thing is, even many people on #climatetwitter can't face up to a 1.5C plan, or even a solid chance at 2C. If that's the case, how can Biden?

This is clearly a trap for politicians, because if they try to address climate change, they have to tell well-educated people (including #climatetwitter) things they do not want to hear. Reports continue to get commissioned, because what else can they do?

I find it encouraging that these researchers, with one of the best, most comprehensive looks at a technically feasible energy transition (which we have to begin tomorrow, if not yesterday), are now followed by 25,000 influential people on #climatetwitter and #energytwitter.

A thread from a year ago. Time either flies or every day is the same day on #climatetwitter -- except happily, @Bankfieldbecky is helping steer this year, so at least the UK is going outside the realm of known politics in the right direction.
Climate Assembly UK - Climate Assembly UK
Climate Assembly UK will bring together people from all walks to life to discuss how the UK can reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050.

How socially difficult the task of mitigation is is demonstrated by the fact that #ClimateTwitter itself can't quite swallow the 'all airports close' panel in the diagram below. And that's from a completely informed audience.

Reminder: None of us can send *this* same tweet, next year at this time.
That's a shocker for #ClimateTwitter, I know, as we are predicated on saying the same things over and over again, in an imaginary perpetuity. But that is an unwise use of our imaginations.

I get why ppl are sensitive to the rote CNN framing on burgers, flights, and cars (aka 'individual action'), but we're so far past that in reality it's more like #climatetwitter has to catch up.

This smart(ass) tweet would’ve gotten me blocked in a minute back on the old #climatetwitter.

And this is exactly why I did not look for the BlueSky equivalent of "ClimateTwitter"
I also think that when you’re a black person with what people have decided is a large social media following (and perhaps one larger than they think you deserve) you become a blank canvas on which white people splatter their projections.

Strangers clog your replies, trying to teach you a lesson.

2020 me: long Covid + my 55406 address led to a broken brain and 'a brief Twitter sabbatical.' 😅

Grateful for the return of executive function + physical health, thrilled to see #ClimateTwitter alive and well on @bsky.app, and curious to nurture/explore whatever comes next. #HealingJourney #SocEnt

I've always found it a little puzzling why some climate folks find the prospect of autonomous electric cars roaming city streets appealing. Against what? Isn't public transport (electric trams, buses) the right comp?

Has anyone done the math on this? #climatetwitter

8/9 Learning from #ClimateTwitter and the many fantastic #SciComm folks here is amazing.

Interacting with climate activists is inspiring.

Exposing #trollers and showing people how to do the same is empowering: they're just a loud but THIN barrier!

We can push through together!
