we love Lewis Wright! he's very well-represented in our own poultry collections. here's an illustration of two chickens from his 'New book of poultry' (1902), a seminal text in the field of Chick Lit

#MorehensDisease struck over the weekend!
Meet our two new additions, Truffle (rooboy) & Bon Bon (hen)!
I have -zero- resistance to cute #Bantam #Cochins.
The silly head poofs are a bonus.
There are two other aspects to our trip down #ChickenMath Lane, but we're keeping them a secret for now! 😁🐓

Im still breeding show-chickens as a hobby, and I've set up my pairs for this year. We just had our first egg from the small ornamental chickens and I'm STOKED. Our ultra-orb shaped Cochins are making ORBS. (this hen is named Bertha she is VERY ROUND)

The bantam cochins are cool because they come in any feathering you could dream of.

Just to share a couple of my favorite little hens, Bluebell and her sister Dovey. Breed is Blue Cochins (although Dove may be a Silver). The flock got frozen pea Popsicles to beat the 85° heat.

🌾People are waking up! People are turning to the land, growing their own food, and raising chickens like these partridge Cochin bantams for eggs.

They're pekins (or cochins depending on where you're from). They're smart, fluffy, and poop more than you would ever think possible.

Cochins are sweet birds. Our favorite rooster, Handsome, was a Partridge Cochin and a sweetheart. (RIP)

Got me an incubator. I'm getting excited over the idea of hatching me some broody little banny hens. I love my fuzzy little cochins.

Polish, Cochins, and Phoenixes - oh my! More babies!

I used to keep a lot of cochins and brahmas and those big feather-leg bowling ball breeds got broody at the drop of the hat, but never got angry. Roosters in those breeds also tended to be really laid back as well.

You haven't even laid an egg yet this year! How are you already broody?

Omg show chickens too! Silkies were always my favorite chickens when I did 4H. And Bantam Cochins. The floof...and such good mommies.

But right here you are surrounded with nerds who can tell you that Queen Victoria liked Cochins.

The only reason we see this happening is the inaction of the West. Failing to act when Iran started delivering shaheds, doing nothing when North Korea send troops and now India and Cochins joined up as well. They all have their reason to want to weaken the West.
Trump sped up this process massively

More chick pics! I just realized one of my cochins is a frizzle! My polish chick might also be. A few chicks also tried to take a nap in my hand while I was handling them, but the blonde one was being a menace lmao #sootycoop

Things are still pretty fucked up all over but walking out my door to see a dozen hens notice me and then all come running for treats and pets will never ever stop making me as happy as can be. The waddling! The little pants on the Cochins! The happy clucks!

Wir haben Zwerghühner (Serama, Zwerg-Cochins und Zwergseidenhühner) und alle sind einzigartig. Hühner sind toll!
